WAITSBURG - Waitsburg's annual Easter egg hunt will be held in Preston Park on Saturday, April 4. The event starts promptly at 10 a.m. The city siren will signal the start of the hunt, and the kids will be off to find chocolate eggs and special plastic eggs with surprises inside. WAITSBURG - Two Waitsburg 4-H groups combined to collect food for the Waitsburg food bank. The Corral Wranglers, led by Katie Knighton, and Pen Pals, led by Tiffany Bannerman and Amber Pope, held their annual food drive on Monday, March 23. This year, the members competed in four groups. At eight p.m., the four teams met at the food bank to weigh their items. The winning team donated 142 pounds. The total from all four groups was 365 pounds. WAITSBURG - After a two-month winter break, Simply Sawdust will reopen on Thursday, March 5. Owner Gloria Wilson used the break to enhance the shop both inside and out. Wilson sold her CNC router, lathe, and milling machines to expand her workspace. She refreshed storefront displays and added products, all with shop-dog Kate's guidance. WAITSBURG - The first supermoon of the year was also the last in a series of four following October, November, and December 2025. Supermoons appear brighter and larger as they are full, while they are at their closest orbital point to Earth. The January Wolf Moon coincided with the peak of the Quadrantid meteor shower. WAITSBURG — Susan Wildey became first interested in yoga in her youth. About five years ago, she got back into yoga to find peace and inner calm. Wildey met the requirement of two hundred class hours and obtained her yoga teaching certificate through a studio in Montana. This past summer, she started her business, Stone and Sky Yoga. “Yoga is less about fitness and more about an inward journey,” said Wildey. The group is hosting a New Year’s Day breakfast to help raise funds for two FFA members to attend the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference (WLC) in Washington, D.C. each summer. WAITSBURG — The Weller Public Library unveiled three stained-glass windows on December 2, in time for Hometown Christmas. The library’s board of trustees worked with John Czarneki of Light & Line Stained Glass Studio in Walla Walla to create the three-panel window. My friend Brooklynn Smith and I wanted to make a cute video with the northern lights. We used her phone to record, and mine to light the scene with its flashlight. She set her camera to the Long Exposure/night mode for 30 seconds. We exported the video to TikTok to edit, speeding it up and adding the still photo at the end. We chose a soundtrack featuring an Alan Watts quote for the final product. It has gotten almost 20,000 views on Instagram....
