Bill Hinchliffe served on the the Fletcher Distroyer, USS Hart, and was in the Pacific Theatre during key battles at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
The family of Jack McCaw, who proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday to serve in WWII. The war ended in August, and he served a year in the occupation forces in Japan.

WAITSBURG - This year, five veterans who passed away will be added to the Waitsburg Memorial Wall. They are Donald Elder, Michael Greer, William Hinchliffe, Jack McCaw, and Robert Rickel. Members of Jack McCaw, Bill Hinchliffe, Mike Greer, and Robert Rickel's families were at the ceremony held in front of the Veterans' Memorial Wall in the city's cemetery. The four will be added to the wall, later this year.
The American Legion and Auxiliary #35, invited veterans, families, the community, and veterans from the Corps of Recovery Discovery (C.O.R.D.) Program. The C.O.R.D. veterans assisted with the program, and member Julie Keach was the event's speaker.
American Legion Frank E. Bauers Post 42 provided a gun salute, and its bugler performed "Taps" at the ceremony.
