Lady Cards fall to Asotin and TCP, 64-26, 61-15

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg-Prescott girls played a competitive first quarter as they faced off against the Asotin Panthers in a league match on Friday, Jan. 23. but failed to maintain their tenacity, ultimately losing 64-26.

“I was most impressed with the first one-and-a-half quarters of the Asotin game,” said WP Coach J.T. Elsey. “The girls played very well. They moved the ball well and they played really good defense. Paige Wood had her best game all year with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kassidy Kuykendall also scored 11 points and a couple of steals. We just could not keep that tempo up.”

The Lady Card didn’t perform as well against Tri-Cities Prep on Saturday, falling 61-15. TCP scored 23 points in the first quarter and never looked back. “The TCP game was not that good. We had trouble making our shots and rebounding the ball. TCP had several offensive rebounds that helped them. Although we did not have a great game. Caitlin Mohney probably played her best game this year. I am looking forward to watching her develop and become a really good guard for the team,” said Elsey. Paige Wood led WP with five points and eight rebounds and Taylor Hays had four rebounds. Hannah Grant and Tayler Jones each scored three-point buckets.
