WAITSBURG - This year, a visit to Waitsburg was a sought-after auction item at the Artist Trust 40th Anniversary Benefit Art. The Waitsburg Sojourn package offered an art, food, and wine weekend for two couples.
On Friday, August 14, the couples who won the trip checked into The Royal Block for their 2-night stay. The winners, Judith Rinehart, John Taylor, Joel Reiter, and Polly Meyer, were welcomed with refreshing cocktails and unique Walla Walla wines.
RB owners Joe Roberts and Tiina Jaatinen provided a private tour of the art and poetry collections at the hotel and arranged a reservation at Bar Bacetto for their first night.
On Saturday afternoon, the group enjoyed a KOKO Studio Ceramics Experience at Wolfling Coffee. The private class, with ceramicist Caitlin Potts, offered a hands-on introduction to hand-built pottery. Each person created a functional ceramic piece, which Potts will ship to them after it is glazed and fired.
After the pottery class, Karen and Paul Gregutt hosted the couples at their Waitsburg home for dinner and wine tasting. Paul pulled a variety of wines from his extensive wine cellar. Karen gave tours of their gardens and her artist studio.
