The 2026 Cardinal Homecoming began Friday, September 25, with a student competition to decorate parts of campus, including the cage. The junior class won "Best Decorations".
The school selected daily themes for the following week. Monday was Pajama Day, and at the daily assembly, the sophomores won the cup game.
Tuesday was Jersey Day, and the sophomores again won at Musical Chairs at the assembly.
Wednesday was Dress Your Age Day, where freshmen were babies, sophomores were toddlers, juniors dressed as adults, and seniors became senior citizens. Senior boys won the Buff Puff volleyball game during the morning assembly.
The annual field night events were held on Wednesday evening, where classes competed in a variety of events, including girls' Powder Puff Football and an obstacle course. Other events were a water chugging contest, Sharks and Minnows, and a school favorite, the Color Chalk War.
Thursday was Profession Day, and the seniors won in the three-legged race during the assembly.
Cardinal Pride Day was on Friday, and the sophomores dominated in dodgeball.
Students earned points for their class by dressing up each day and winning assembly and field night competitions. Seniors started slowly but came out on top to win Spirit Week. The sophomore class finished second, juniors third, and freshmen fourth.
Saturday night, the students enjoyed a tropical "Night in Hawaii" for their homecoming dance. Ron Blush from Moments to Remember Events was the DJ, and Waitsburg photographer Dave Tipton generously provided free photography. Seniors Griffen Hinchliffe and Pilar Diaz-Easton were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
