Charissa Lee Johnson

April 19, 1981 – August 7, 2026

Our beloved daughter Charissa Lee Johnson (Prickett), 45, of Mount Vernon, Washington, died on August 7th, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, from an accidental overdose.

"The long goodbye" best describes the misery of watching a loved one struggle with addiction and lose the battle. She died alone and without her family, who cherished her and always believed that someday she would overcome her addiction and be with us again.

On the surface, her death may be sad, but the limited time we had with her was not.

Her grandfather, William Lee Johnson, once said that Charissa's children, Connor and Isabella, are a gift to us. This was despite the struggles she faced and her inability to be involved in their lives as they grew up.

Charissa was born on Easter Sunday, April 19, 1981, in Mount Vernon, Washington, to Twila Johnson and the late Charles Allen Prickett.

She attended schools in Mount Vernon and had many friends who showed her kindness. She loved looking for agates at the beach on family outings; creating art with her father, Greg; and baking in the kitchen with her mother, Twila.

Charissa is survived by her son, Connor Lee Hutchings; daughter, Isabella Metz; parents, Twila Johnson Tate and Gregory Tate; brother, Kelly Johnson; and sisters, Heidi Tate and Kierstin Metcalf; aunts, an uncle, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, Cindy and William Lee Johnson, Hilda and Charles Tate, and Florence Goode.

Charissa's family will hold a private memorial to celebrate her life at a later time.
