    PRESCOTT - Preliminary results from the Nov. 4 General Election show the Prescott Pool Maintenance and Operations levy passing easily with 69.04% of Walla Walla and Columbia County voters approving the levy. A 60% super majority is required to approve the pool's annual $110,000 levy, which translates to about 37 cents per $1,000 of evaluation, down slightly from 40 cents per $1,000 last year and 45 cents per $1,000 in 2012. Cook decided to pack simple gifts in a shoebox for child victims of the Bosnian war. To date, over 100 million shoeboxes have been given to needy children around the world.
