A SMILE AND A HANDSHAKE

October 9, 2014

Pacific Power Regional Community Manager Bill Clemens awarded a $3,000 grant check to City Administrator Randy Hinchliffe and artist Jeffrey Hill on Oct. 2. Hinchliffe was able to present Hill with $20,000 of donated funds to begin work on his "Founding Fathers" sculpture to be displayed on Waitsburg's Main Street along with sculptures by Wayne Chabre and Squire Broel. An additional $50,000 in grants and donations must be raised by the end of May 2015 to complete the piece. "I couldn't be more excited for Waitsburg," said Hill. "The city will have unique art pieces by three well-known sculptors, representing the city's founding fathers and mothers, to help commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the city. This is just one more great reason to visit the city."
