DAYTON - In a ceremony last week, Dayton resident Gary Schroeder was sworn in as Lieutenant Governor for Division 54 of the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International. He was sworn in by District Governor Bob Munger, of Portland.

Division 54 includes eight clubs in southeast Washington: six in Tri-Cities and one each in Walla Walla and Dayton. As Lt. Governor, Schroeder said he will assist all of those clubs in planning, goal setting and membership growth.

"I will attend meetings with all of the clubs, and meet with their boards as well," he said.

Schroeder retired from the Columbia County Health System after serving 23 years as its Chief Financial Officer. He grew up in Oklahoma, and worked as an accountant in the Kansas City area before moving to Dayton.

Schroeder and his wife, Karen, are longtime members of the Dayton Kiwanis Club. He joined the club in 1992. He has served as a club board member for many years and served as club president in 1998-99 and 2010- 12. He was also honored as Dayton Kiwanian of the Year in 2000.
