Waitsburg Homecoming 2025

WAITSBURG - Homecoming week at Waitsburg High School was celebrated with dress-up days, class competitions, field night, and volleyball and football games.

The homecoming court was introduced at halftime of the October 3 football game, and the senior class was declared the winner of spirit week.

Waitsburg High School's football team went on to win its homecoming game against Tekoa-Rosalia on Friday, 58 to 30.

Both teams now have a 4-1 overall record. The Cardinals are now 2-0 in the league, while the Timberwolves have fallen to 1-1.

Waitsburg led 14-8 after one quarter and held a 22-16 lead at half. The Cardinals did not let up and outscored Tekoa-Rosalia 36-14 in the second half.

"The Homecoming game against Tekoa-Rosalia was a good test for us," said Coach Gabe Kiefel. "On defense, we had to learn how to stop their run and adjust to contain their quarterback, who was slippery and fast. We adjusted where we could, and the team rose to the occasion."

The team enjoyed this homecoming win and is working hard to prepare for Garfield-Palouse next Saturday at 5 p.m. for their last home game, which will also be Senior Night.

The Roaring '20s was the theme for Saturday night's homecoming dance. The dance was held in the high school's cage, and the class crowned Jarod Hankins and Emma Hays Homecoming King and Queen.
