Tigers will face St. George’s (AGAIN) in semifinals opener

PRESCOTT – The Prescott Tigers soccer team made it to the state championship semifinals following their 6-0 home turf win over Tacoma’s Evergreen Lutheran on Fri., Nov. 10.

Prescott took an early lead, which they maintained throughout the game, adding three goals in the last 20 minutes of play.

Jose Gonzales scored the first goal early and went on to score a game-high of three. Chuy Hernandez made a goal and two assists while Omar Velazco and Damien Caro each added goals. Tiger goalie Jose Iglesias was on point after returning from a knee injury and made six saves to keep the Eagles scoreless.

The win will leave the Tigers to face off against St. George’s for the third time this season. The Tigers fell 2-1 in an away game in Sept. and the teams played to a scoreless draw on Oct. 27. Last year, the Tigers lost a state semifinal match to St. George’s 2-1.

Prescott will travel to Sumner to play St. George’s on Friday and will stay to play in either the championship game or consolation game on Saturday.
