DAYTON – The Dayton girls' basketball team went on the road Friday to DeSales, and fell to the league-leading Irish, 39-35. The following night, however, the Lady 'Dogs easily defeated the Asotin Panthers at home, 44-29.

Against DeSales, Dayton fell behind early and was never able to catch up. They trailed 10-4 after the first quarter and 18-12 at the half.

"We just couldn't get shots to fall," said Dayton coach Clayton Strong. "It was a fun atmosphere to be in as far as the crowd goes. I thought we played with good resiliency. We got really good shots but didn't get enough of them to fall."

Sidney Andrews led Dayton with 14 points, followed by Jenna Phillips, with six. Lexie Ramirez pulled down nine rebounds, and Andrews had seven.

The Lady 'Dogs hosted Asotin on Saturday and cruised to an easy win. Dayton jumped out to a 24-14 halftime lead and held on to win, 44-29.

"I thought we had a nice bounce back from the night before," Strong said. "I was worried we might have a letdown after the way the night before happened, but it didn't."

The team spread out the scoring against Asotin. Andrews and Ramirez each had eight points, Shayla Currin had seven and Madison Mings scored six. Ramirez again led her team with nine rebounds, followed by Mings and Jordyn Lowe, with six each. Ramirez also had four assists, and Mings had four steals.

Dayton finishes out the regular season this week, hosting Walla Walla Valley Academy on Thursday, and then playing in Waitsburg Saturday night, against WP.
