Lady 'Dogs fall to Colfax

Defending champs' "D" stifles Dayton for much of game

DAYTON – On Dec. 23, the Dayton girls' basketball team hosted defending state champion Colfax, and suffered a 39-28 loss. It was the second straight loss for the previously undefeated Lady 'Dogs. They are now 6-2.

Dayton tool a 13-12 lead into the first quarter break, but their offense began to sputter. They scored only seven points over the next two quarters, and trailed Colfax 36-19 after three.

The Lady 'Dogs suffered cold shooting for most of the game, going 8 for 30 from the field, including a Madison Mings three-pointer.

For the game, Shayla Currin led Dayton scorers with seven points, followed by Lexie Ramirez with six and Sidney Andrews with five. Ramirez also had seven rebounds.

Dayton Boys Fall, 53-9

The Dayton Bulldogs were held to two points in the first half against Colfax, and fell, 53-9 in their non-conference matchup Dec. 23.

Dayton shot only 3-22 from the floor for the game. Zach Wagonner scored six of his team's nine points.

The Dayton girls' and boys' teams host Lind-Ritzville on Friday and then travel to Pomeroy on Tuesday.
