Madi Potter pitching against Colton.

The Cardinal team of mainly eighth and ninth graders never gave up this season. Most of the pitching this season was by eighth grader Madyson Potter, who battled every game.

On April 20, the Cardinals played Colton and lost 23-6. A highlight from the game happened in the second inning when the Cardinals scored five runs. Eighth grader Harlee Coulston scored two runs in the game. Potter pitched, and eighth grader Kaitylyn Paul was the catcher. Paul, Coulston, Kayla Kuykendall, Laila Long, Lillian Carpenter, and Katy Allen each got a hit in the game.

Dayton came to Waitsburg on Tuesday, April 21, and won 26-6. Both teams had five hits; however, the Cardinal pitchers walked too many batters. Junior Ava Childers started on the mound, then was relieved by Potter with Paul catching. Carpenter scored two runs in the game. Paul had two hits, and Allen, Stella Pearson, and Carpenter had one hit each.
