At the Liberty: "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"

August 21-25

DAYTON — In “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Peter Parker finds himself fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him. The pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him sparks a change in Peter that he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see.

Cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Mark Ruffalo. Rated PG-13 for sequences of action/violence and some language. Runtime: 144 min.

Coming on August 28 - September 1 is “The Brink of War”. President Reagan races against time to salvage a deal with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that could dismantle nuclear arsenals—or ignite disaster. With pressure mounting on all sides, every word spoken brings the world closer to peace... or destruction. Rated: PG for language, thematic elements, and smoking. Runtime: 120 minutes.

“The Last Picture Shows” Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. Tickets on sale soon.

Filmmaker Rustin Thompson journeys into the American West on a search for traces of what was once a center of small-town life: the movie theater. “The Last Picture Shows” is not only a timely portrait of an industry in crisis, one facing the headwinds of consolidation, streaming, and the diminishing theatrical experience, but it also reminds viewers that even in vast cinema deserts, there are oases of community and gathering that remain, where the movie house continues to be a place of wonder, contemplation, and connection. The Liberty Theater is in the film.
