Historic military vehicle convoy will roll through Dayton, Waitsburg, Walla Walla on August 10

TOUCHET VALLEY - A column of up to 100 vintage military vehicles is traveling along the 2,100 miles of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery westward route from Mandan, North Dakota to Fort Stevens, Oregon. The convoy is organized by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, a nonprofit to support military vehicle enthusiasts, historians, educators, and collectors.

Following the original path as closely as possible, the group travels an average of 150 miles a day, at 35 mph. Vehicles range from WWII jeeps to late-model 5-ton trucks.

On Monday, August 10, the convoy will be stopping in Dayton, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla. First, the group will be at the Columbia County Courthouse around 11 a.m., Patit Creek Campsite around 1:30 p.m., and then on to Waitsburg's Main Street around 2 p.m. The convoy will end the day in Walla Walla.
