Live Performance Nov. 13 – Dec. 13
DAYTON — Tickets are now on sale for The Liberty Theater’s 2026 Fall Production of “The Wizard of Oz,” directed by Brenda Henderson and Assistant Director Stephanie Snyder.
When a Kansas tornado whisks Dorothy Gale and her dog, Toto, away to the magical Land of Oz, they must follow the Yellow Brick Road to find their way home. Along the way, she teams up with a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion seeking courage. Together, they must outsmart the Wicked Witch of the West and reach the Emerald City to ask the wonderful Wizard for his help. Featuring the timeless songs you love, this enchanting musical adventure celebrates friendship, bravery, and the ultimate truth that there is truly no place like home.
Returning are some of the original Dayton yellow brick cast and crew members who will be clicking their heels and bringing back that classic emerald magic to the Liberty. Roz Edwards returns to reprise the role of the Wicked Witch for the third time. Over 60 talented local cast and crew members are participating in this year’s production. Tickets are available at libertytheater.org or at the theater’s box office on Tuesday and Friday, 2-5 p.m.
For this year’s Christmas Kickoff, the Liberty Theater will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” for free admission on Friday, November 27, at 3 p.m. Based on Barbara Robinson’s classic 1971 book, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” follows the Herdman kids, six scrappy siblings with no filters, church experience, and zero interest in following the rules. Naturally, they take over the annual Christmas pageant and somehow teach the town some of the biggest life lessons and the true meaning of Christmas. Rated PG for thematic material and brief underage smoking. Runtime is 99 minutes.
Upcoming Movies: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” shown free on Christmas Kickoff November 27 at 3 p.m. Movies will return December 11. The movie schedule is always subject to change.
