Schram endorsement

To the editor,

During this election for Sheriff, many letters have noted Richard Schram’s leadership, devotion, professionalism, and vision for the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office. I agree with every word.

But let me tell you about something that matters just as deeply: how Richard handles his mistakes.

This job will humble you. No one escapes it entirely. We’ve all said the wrong thing or damaged a relationship. We’re only human. When it happens, the whole agency watches to see what kind of person you really are — especially with proverbial egg on your face and a patrol boot in your mouth. What are they going to do to make it right and rebuild trust.

Here’s the difference: Richard goes back and makes it right every time. He has the hard conversations, looks a man in the eye, and says those words, “Hey, I messed up. I’m sorry.” No excuses. No blaming others. Just quiet ownership and the drive to do better.

That’s why I’m endorsing Richard Schram for Walla Walla County Sheriff. Character shows clearest when things go wrong — and in what a leader does after a mistake.
