Letter of Endorsement for Richard Schram

To the Editor,

I spent 45 years living in Walla Walla County, and serving its citizens was one of the greatest privileges of my career. Even though I no longer live there, I’ll always care about the community and the people who call it home. That’s why I’m taking the time to write this.

I’ve known Richard Schram since 2007, when I was hired as a Deputy with the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office. Over the years, I worked beside him on a wide range of cases, from death investigations and homicides to drug warrants and everything in between. I got to see how he handled difficult situations, and I never had to wonder what kind of leader he was. Richard was steady, level-headed, and someone you could trust when the pressure was on.

One thing that sets Richard apart is his experience. He served under three different Sheriffs, so he’s seen what works, what doesn’t, and where the Sheriff’s Office can continue to improve. That perspective is valuable because it gives him the ability to build on the good while making changes where they’re needed.

What stands out to me most isn’t just his experience, it’s his character. Richard cares about Walla Walla County. He cares about the deputies he works with, and he cares about the people they serve. He’s not interested in the title; he’s interested in doing the job the right way.

I’ve worked with a lot of good law enforcement officers over the years, and Richard is one of the people I trust the most. I have complete confidence in his ability to lead the Sheriff’s Office with integrity and common sense.

I’m proud to support Richard Schram for Walla Walla County Sheriff, and I hope you’ll consider giving him your vote.
