WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg School's athletic field is getting some upgrades in time for the Cardinals' first home football game. With generous donations and volunteer time, the facility will have a new walkway and ticket and merchandise booth.
The Booster Club received funds from the Waitsburg Alumni Association and donated concrete and finish work for the building's foundation by John Gleason, owner of Affordable Concrete. Volunteers will have the booth ready to use at the first home football game on Friday, September 4.
A sidewalk was installed by Gleason and his crew extending from the concession stand to the football bleachers. The school district received funding for the sidewalk project through an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) grant. Concrete was not added where the new sidewalk crosses the track. For rain-related accessibility, the plan is to place a rubber mat across that portion of the track.
