At the Liberty:"Minions & Monsters"

DAYTON — “Minions & Monsters” is the rambunctious and true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood. Set in the 1920s, the film shows how Gru’s yellow, pill-shaped henchmen became movie stars, but lost everything after the introduction of “talkies”. To get back on top, the Minions decide to unleash monsters for their own movie. However, when the monsters’ true intentions are revealed, the Minions must save the world from them. The cast includes Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Trey Parker, Bobby Moynihan, Phil LaMarr, Zoey Deutsch, Christoph Waltz and George Lucas. Rated: PG for violence/action, language, and rude/macabre humor. Runtime: 90 minutes.

At 89% approval, the Rotten Tomatoes critics wrote, “The Minions bring their penchant for mayhem to Hollywood history in this affectionate and charming sendup of moviemaking magic, turning out the franchise’s most roundly enjoyable entry yet.” An RT audience member said, “If you’re already a fan of the franchise, this gives everything you want. Funny moments for the kids, funny moments that only the adults will get, and a goofy ‘what if’ scenario that drops the Minions into the historic early steps of Hollywood.”

The Liberty Theater’s Annual Yard Sale raises funds for the theater’s operation. The sale is this Friday, July 24, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be in the Annex behind the theater.

Online registration is now open for participation in the 2026 Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Aladdin” over the week of August 3-8. It is free for children going into 1st through 12th grade. Registration is required in person at the theater on Tuesday, July 28, and Friday, July 31, from 2 to 5 p.m., or online at libertytheater.org.

Auditions are on Monday, August 3, at 10 a.m., with rehearsals all week. Performances are Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for $5. Please call (509) 382-1380 with any questions.
