WAITSBURG - Waitsburg Elementary's K-6 Spring Program, "A Blast From The Past," opened with the "National Anthem-Star Spangled Banner," sung by Kestrel DeFord, Kaidence Wilcox, Alyssa Cole, Olivia Long, Brooklyn Board, Azaliah Flores, and Foster Richardson, with Lencio Flores and Mitchell Hays on guitar.
Music director Elizabeth Arebalos-Jagelski directed the program, held on June 3, 2026, at 1 pm in the Secondary School Gym. This event marks her last production as she begins a new chapter in her life – retirement.
After the opening, grades K-4 sang "Turn It Loose," followed by all elementary students singing "I Believe." Then kindergarten and 1st-grade students performed "Sing" from Sesame Street, "Yellow Submarine," and "The Construction Musicality Movement." Second- and third-graders continued with "Green, Green, Grass," "Hello/Goodbye," and "The Chef-Musicality Movement."
All students sang "Over the Rainbow," followed by third graders with "Help!" Third and fourth-graders performed "Seasons of Love." Fourth grade presented "Blackbird," "Man in the Mirror," and "Third Base Coach-Musicality Movement."
As the program continued, the fifth and sixth-grade band played pieces such as "Hot Cross Buns," "Song of Fjord," "Down by the Station," "Go for Excellence," "Au Claire de La Lune," "Merrily We Roll," and "Shark Attack."
Band members Sawyer Harvey and Tucker Brown each played a solo, and then everyone sang "We Are the World."
As a heartfelt finale, the elementary students, joined by Mike Ferrians, surprised Jagelski by singing "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban to end the 2026 spring program.
"Thank you to my Cardinal family, and to the precious Waitsburg children whom I have had the honor to teach for a short five years. To the parents and their kids I have taught over my 41 years as an educator in Starbuck, Walla Walla, and Waitsburg, I love each and every one of you. I will hold you in my heart.
"Go out of my door and be successful and be your very best self. You are enough, and you have something special to offer the world," musically yours, Ms. J.
