WALLA WALLA - Looking for a fun way to celebrate the season? If you like pony rides, petting zoos, and Rizzy the Camel, the answer is Once upon a Spring! on April 18, from noon to 4 p.m. This free event offers music, food, and hands-on fun for all ages at The Selah in the Walla Walla Valley.
The Kaufman Family Bluegrass and Whitman Children's Choir will perform during the day. There will also be 4-H rabbit races and four cow milking demonstrations at the petting zoo.
There will be pony rides throughout the day, except during the shows.
Guests will be able to try their hands at roping, no experience needed. It is a chance to let your inner cowboy or girl come out to play. Walla Walla Community College Rodeo donated a roping dummy and ropes for the event, which will be held between noon and 4 p.m. It is a chance to learn something new, cheer others on, and possibly win prizes.
The petting zoo is full of animal friends to meet, including cows, sheep, llamas, chicks, ducks, and rabbits. So many animals, so little time – don't miss out.
Kids can participate in a variety of crafts, including picking fresh flowers and building bouquets. They can also learn how to make butter, and plant flowers in pots they decorate with help from Waitsburg Garden Center.
The first round of food is included in the free admission, and seconds on hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and cotton candy is available for a little bit of cash.
The Selah is the creation of owners Jeff and Jerilynn Hall as a rural community gathering space in the agricultureal heart of the Walla Walla Valley.
The event space is at 3579 Clodius Rd., Waitsburg, Washington. Visit https://theselahmoments.com for more information.
