Columbia P&R pool district update

DAYTON — The regular meeting of the Columbia County Parks and Recreation Pool District was held Jan. 29 at the fire station in Dayton. Discussed was the 2026 Legislative grant submitted by grant writer Elsa Watson. There are three additional grants pending submission.

On May 23, the district will be having a yard sale to benefit the pool. The commissioners are asking for donations of clean, usable items for the sale—contact Commissioner Terri Hessler at wthessler@gmail.com for more information or to donate.

In July, the district will host the Duck Derby during Alumni Weekend to raise funds for the Dayton pool project. Commissioner Katie Leid will spearhead the duck-filled activity.

The commissioners expressed appreciation to Columbia County voters for passing the recent levy and remain committed to building a municipal pool as soon as possible.
