“A Christmas Carol” & “Elf”

DAYTON — Come and kick off the holiday season at the theater. There are two weekends left to catch the 2025 Fall Production of “A Christmas Carol” at the Liberty Theater. Tickets for the remaining dates, between November 29-December 6, are still available.

“A Christmas Carol” combines the beloved story by Charles Dickens, published in 1843, and the short story “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry, published in 1905. The reimagined play and lyrics were written by co-directors Mike Ferrians and Brenda Henderson.

The audience has praised the production, costumes, sets, cast, crew, musicians, and the directors. One patron said, “Thoroughly enjoyed the performances of all, as well as the message. Time well spent for anyone viewing.”

The theater is accepting non-perishable food donations in support of Dayton’s local food bank.

For Dayton’s Christmas Kickoff, the theater will show “ELF” on Friday, November 28, at 3 p.m. Admission is free.

Will Ferrell (Old School) stars as Buddy, a human raised in the North Pole as an elf. After wreaking havoc due to his size, Buddy heads to New York City to find his place in the world and to find his father. He finds his father is a “Scrooge” and his eight-year-old stepbrother doesn’t believe in Santa. It’s up to Buddy and his elfin ways to win over his family and save Christmas. Rated PG for some mild rude humor and language, and has a runtime of 97 minutes.

Monday, December 1  , from 5 to 8 p.m. is Ladies Night Out!  Ladies are invited to stop by the theater for buttered popcorn and to pick up movie passes or gift certificates for the holidays.  They make great stocking stuffers.
