Harvest caused a shortage of Historical Society board members when the group met Monday night. Orin Walker presided over the meeting in the absence of the president. Albert Land has completed the renovation of the front porch deck which had begun to show the wear of time. Some parts of the pillars had to be replaced but a coat of paint will cover the new wood. The Advisory Council of the Office of Historical Preservation will review the application for putting the Bruce House in the National Register of Historic Sites. The meeting will be held in Ephrata on August 29. Anyone interested is free to attend. A lovely green velour-covered chaise has been donated to the Society by Mrs. Chas. Neace, and will be used in the parlor. The hanging kerosene lamp has been put in place and is very lovely.

The price was formerly 6 and 7 cents. The advance is due to large straw, small yield of wheat and high wages which threshers are compelled to pay for help.
