Seniors surprised with night of fun

WAITSBURG - Waitsburg High School's Class of 2025 students were called to a senior sign-out meeting on Wednesday, May 14.

The students quickly discovered that their senior class advisor, Jaimee Knudson, had organized an evening of activities, including a scavenger hunt, a color powder war, and a BBQ.

The students were divided into two teams and set out on the scavenger hunt. On the scavenger hunt map were the rules and the following message to the seniors:

"As you approach graduation, childhood starts to fade like the sun. A chapter closed; a race well run. The toys, the games, and the carefree days are set aside for more serious ways. As you approach graduation, remember this truth: you carry with you the heart of your youth. Though childhood is over, it's never gone – the spirit of play will always live on."

When the team finished the scavenger hunt, they were given spray paint to sign their names on a donated bus that would never be used again. The team that finished the hunt and got their names on the bus first were given bottles of color powder for the color war.

The students relived some of their elementary school days by playing with a parachute with their kindergarten teacher, Pamala Nolan Beasley. They also broke open a pinata and stuffed as many students as possible into the in-school suspension room.

The event was a big hit for all the students, their families, and the staff who were in attendance.
