Scholarships available to future educators.

Two School Retiree Associations give scholarships to support future educators.

WALLA WALLA & COLUMBIA COUNTIES – The Washington State School Retirees Association (WSSRA) and the Walla Walla-Columbia School Retirees Association (WWCRA) are offering scholarships to future educators planning to do student teaching, internships, and plan on teaching in the state.

Washington State School Retirees Association has the following scholarships for Washington State high school seniors:

Robert J Handy Scholarship is $900 annually for four years.

WWSRA Foundation Scholarships are two one-time scholarships, for $3000 and $2000.

Gene Forrester Memorial Scholarship is for agricultural education majors at Washington State University. Applications are due by March 1, 2024.

Neil D. Prescott Student Teaching/Internship Scholarship offers two scholarships for $2,500 each to Washington State high school graduates preparing for their student teaching/internship during the 2024-2025 school year. Applications are due by April 1, 2024.

The Walla Walla-Columbia School Retirees Association (WWCSRA) offers two scholarships. The grants are eligible to prospective teachers and candidates from other school-related fields planning to student teach or intern in an educational setting between September 2024 and June 2025.

Requirements:

Graduate of high school in Walla Walla or Columbia County

Student teach/internship between September 2024 and June 2025

Applications are due by March 1, 2024. Scholarship applications are available online at the Blue Mountain Community Foundation website; http://www.bluemountainfoundation.org. The WWCRSA scholarship can be found under the scholarship tab at the top of the homepage.
