DAYTON - "A Haunting in Venice" is set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows' Eve. It is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world's most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

Critics at Rotten Tomatoes give this movie a 75% favorable rating, and audiences agree with a 77%. The critics there say this is "A darker and spookier spin on Branagh's Poirot, A Haunting in Venice is a decent Halloween snack whose undemanding mystery gets a lift from nifty visuals and an all-star cast." The movie is rated PG-13 for some strong violence, disturbing images and thematic elements. IMDb rates this movie 6.8 of 10, and that website's parent's guide states there is moderate violence and gore, as well as moderate levels of frightening and intense scenes. All other categories are rated mild or none. This movie has a runtime of 103 minutes.
