Ruth Elizabeth (Beth) Flathers McDonald

September 6, 1948 – April 22, 2023

Ruth Elizabeth (Beth) Flathers McDonald passed away due to a stroke on April 22, 2023, at her home in Ocean Park, WA.

Beth was born on September 6, 1948, in Walla Walla to Howard and Ruth (Langdon) Flathers. Raised in Prescott, she went to school there and graduated from Prescott High School in 1966. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse Degree at WWCC in 1967. On September 2, 1967, she and Riley J. McDonald were married. They raised four sons, Matthew (Michelle), Andy (Beth Ann), Riley R. (Lisha), and Casey (Shirley). Her nursing degree proved to be just what she needed with raising four rambunctious sons and one husband.

She is survived by her husband Riley, her sons and their wives, and grandchildren Drew and Levi, Rile, Marina and Megan. She is also survived by her sister Sherry (Jack) Groom of Dayton and nephew John (Stephanie) Groom and niece Mindi (Justin) Ingram.

Beth found solace in her strong faith and enjoyed riding her Rhino in the woods looking for her latest treasure among the flora and fauna. She also loved writing poetry and spending time with her family and friends.

A memorial will be held on May 20, 2023, in Long Beach, Wash. Then a graveside will be held at the Prescott Cemetery at a later date.
