Stroe Understands the Community

October 18, 2018

Dear Editor,

It’s not just showing up to events to introduce yourself to just a few at community events, but rather it is complete community involvement in youth activities, church, community service, and school events that make an individual have a keen awareness of their community. Matt Stroe is that person.

After raising my family in this community, I understand the importance of what Matt says: “It takes a village to raise a child.” Matt has involved himself on every level of community connection, and that is why he understands best the concerns our citizens have with regards to safety of both adults and our youth. When he is at his children’s events, you will always find Matt talking with anyone who may have a question or concern about our community; he is accessible and always happy to have that conversation with you.

These are qualities I find extremely important as a leader in our community in law enforcement. Because Matt has chosen to raise his family here, like so many with ties to this county have, he has a deeper interest in what affects our youth currently. Matt has said he will address the at-risk youth in hopes of decreasing the chances of that child becoming an adult offender. I also appreciate his focus on expanding the anti-drug use to our area high schools which will address the opioid use that has become so prevalent.

I know that when I talk to Matt Stroe, his background in mentoring our area youth and having his own children in our school system is exactly what Walla Walla County needs in our next Sheriff.

Please join me and so many other families in our county who care about our youth in voting Matt Stroe for Walla Walla County Sheriff. He is the one who understands our community and family!
