Lady Cardinal Team Prepares for Transition to 1B

WAITSBURG – New Waitsburg girls' basketball coach Roy Ramirez says he looks forward to working with his new team and in its new 1B division league.

He says that even though one of his team's league opponents is Colton, which has won the state girls' 1B championship for eight consecutive years (that's not a typo).

"They're a tough team," Ramirez said. Ramirez praised several of his team's upcoming opponents, including Pomeroy, Oakesdale and Touchet.

Ramirez, who also serves as assistant coach for the Waitsburg boys' team, was hired to take over the Lady Cardinals about a week before the team's...
