Upcoming Tire Recycling Events

WALLA WALLA – Three Tire Recycling Amnesty Events have been scheduled for all Walla Walla County residents.

Events will be held Sat. and Sun., May 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (unless trucks fill to capacity) at Walla Walla County’s gravel lot on Tausick Way, across from the sports complex. A second event will be held Sat., May 14 from 9a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Walla Walla County fire District 5 gravel lot on Humorist Road in Burbank.

The events are open to Walla Walla County residents only, and proof of residency and ID must be shown. No business or retail accepted. There is a limit of 10 tires per residence and tires on rims will not be accepted. Only motorcycle, passenger car, and light truck size tires will be accepted. Tires larger than 36” will not be accepted.

Walla Walla County Community Development CCEO Nina Baston said tires can cost $8-$13 to dispose of at the landfill.

“If we can fill six trucks, that will be between 5,000 and 6,000 tires, which could save Walla Walla County residents $40,000 to $78,000 in recycling fees. Plus it will help to alleviate the health, insect, and fire issues related with excel tires,” Baston said.
