Ky Adams Gets Win at NW Christian Meet

David Just is fourth at nw Christian Invite

COLBERT – With 21 teams participating in the Northwest Christian Invite, Waitsburg Wrestling Coach Lanny Adams said his 113, 138, and 145 class wrestlers had to win their first match just to make it into the tournament. Even with stiff competition, freshman Ky Adams did Waitsburg proud by bringing home the gold in the 145 lb. class.

Adams took a bye in his first round before pinning JT Tachell (Davenport) at 2:02 into round two. He pinned G. Jones (Pullman) in 2:10 in round three and took first place from Reggie Jones (Colfax) in a 6-4 decision.

“This is going to be a good battle between these two as the season goes on. Ky wrestled very smart,” said Coach Adams.

David Just (138) pinned Micah Tenney (Lakeside) at 1:06 for the win in round one but fell to Danial Phillips (Republic) at 1:05 in round two. He went on to win rounds three and four, pinning Grant Druffel (Pullman) in 1:53, and C. Monzingo (Riverside) in 1:16. Just fell a second time to Phillips in 1:26 in a bid for 3rd/4th standing.

“We were able to bring home some hardware. This tournament gave us a good look at the north end of the region so we can start to prepare for post season action,” Coach Adams said.
