Lady Cards Beat the Pioneers

Waitsburg Lady Cardinals defeated Mac-HI on December 17.

WAITSBURG - Cheri Mathews scored 16 points, including six for twelve from the free throw line, and rebounded five. Audrey Kiefel had 15 points, nine for sixteen from the free throw line, seven rebounds, and six steals. Olivia Kiefel shot 57% from the free-throw line, had 18 rebounds, three assists, and finished with eight points. Kayla Kuykendall had four assists, and she and Emerson Underwood both had five rebounds and one point. Joslin Nodine contributed two points, and Yaneli scored one point in the win.

On December 19, at Rosalia, the girls lost 58-22. Mathews led the team with 15 points, and O. Kiefel scored seven.

In their last home game before winter break, the girls played tough, scrappy defense and held leads throughout, but fell to St. John-Endicott 33-26 on December 20.

Olivia Kiefel had a personal season high of 13 points. Nodine had five, Mathews four,  Audrey Kiefel had two, and Underwood and Kuykendall each had one point.

"The girls are working hard and improving each game. They are working together as a team. We do not have a game for the next two weeks, so we will be working hard all break, ready to play after the holidays," said Coach Waggoner.
