Lady Cards Take Tigers in Three

WAITSBURG – The Cards faced former teammates, the Prescott Tigers, for a home-court win on Thurs, Oct. 1. The Lady Cards took the Tigers in three sets: 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.

“For the first two sets the girls played their game and maintained good focus against players that they still consider to be part of their team.  In the third set, we let up and started making too many unforced errors.  Fortunately, they were able to regain momentum led by three straight kills and a block by Devon Harshman,” said Cardinal Coach Angie Potts.

Stats for the Prescott game were: Ariel Sandau, 13 assists, three kills, two aces; Bailey Adams, five kills, five digs, 12 aces; Caitlin Mohney, 4 kills, four aces; Devon Harshman, nine kids, three blocks; Timber Frohreich, two aces.

The Lady Cards fought hard but ultimately fell to DeSales on the Irish court in five sets at a Sept. 29 league match. The Cards lost: 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-11, 15-9.

“This was such an exciting and intense match!  The girls played so well and really worked hard the entire match.  It’s been a long time since we’ve played DeSales so closely in a regular season match that it was exciting to see how well this team is progressing.

“We’re going to add more pressure situations into our drills so that they learn how to remain calm and focused with the game on the line,” said Potts.

In the DeSales match Anissa Holmberg made three kills, two aces; Ariel Sandau 15 assists, three kills, one block; Bailey Adams six kills, four digs; Caitlin Mohney three kills, seven digs; Caitlyn Jones 14 digs; Devon Harshman seven kills, six blocks; Jade Alleman three kills; Tayler Jones five digs.

“I’m really pleased with how the girls played this week,” said Potts.
