Dayton

June 7: Missing juvenile reported on S. 3rd Street; located and returned. Fence posts removed from property on Eckler Mountain/Cougar Canyon Road; posts burned in pit and garbage also left on property. Dayton resident Marcos Acevedo, 37, arrested on E. Clay Street on suspicion of driving under the influence and on a suspended license. Unwanted subject reported at Cameron Court.

June 8: Caller reporting medications taken from vehicle during prowl that occurred in May; theft may have taken place near milepost 10 on N. Touchet Road. Vehicle window broken out over the weekend on E. Mustard Street; nothing appears to have been taken from vehicle. Bicycle tire slashed while at Dayton High School. Shoplifting involving a juvenile at Dayton Mercantile. Possible threats over the adoption of a dog on Willow Creek Road.

June 9: Harassment over eviction paperwork reported on W. Cameron Street. Possible burglary in progress at residence on Tucannon Street in Starbuck; deputies were unable to locate anyone in the area or any signs of a recent burglary. Non-injury collision occurred on W. Main Street when a vehicle turned and struck a motorcycle that was stopped at a stop sign; driver cited for improper turn.

June 10: Subject reportedly causing a scene in the city hall lobby; subject calmed down and situation was resolve by deputy contact. Child reported losing glasses while at the city pool. Resident on N. 5th Street found a small child’s bicycle left in the yard. Non-injury collision with deer on Highway 12 near milepost 364.

June 11: Possible drug activity reported at the city park; deputies unable to locate. Dangerous driver reported in construction zone on Highway 12 near milepost 374. Trespass paperwork filed against a subject at Dayton General Hospital. Theft of cell phone reported at the city pool. Aggressive dog at large reported on S. 3rd Street. Possible violation of no-contact order reported on N. Front Street; Dayton resident Brandon John, 31, was arrested on suspicion of violating a court order.

June 12: Several electronic items, gaming consoles, and TV reported stolen from an apartment on S. 5th Street. Report of possible criminal mistreatment by caregivers reported on S. 5th Street. Non-injury collision occurred when vehicle backed into a parked car while leaving a restaurant on N. Cherry Street. Possible harassment reported on E. Commercial Street; person may have driven slowly in front of the caller’s house.

June 13: Report of person driving an ATV up and down the alley on E. Richmond Avenue; deputies spoke with person who has been riding in a private yard. Report of a bear cub near milepost 2 on Wolf Fork Road; Washington State Fish and Wildlife advised. Commercial burglary reported at the Columbia County Fairgrounds; chest freezer missing from a booth.

June 14: Non-injury collision when two vehicles collided on N. Front Street; lots of damage to both vehicles. Possible fight in progress reported on W. Cameron Street; deputies separated the parties for the night and forwarded a report to the prosecutor’s office. Vehicle belonging to missing Oregon man Shirley “Ben” Gano located on Fletcher Road in Starbuck. See story in this issue for further details.

June 15: Possible DUI leaving the Lyons Ferry Marina; call transferred to Washington State Patrol.

June 16: Non-injury hit and run collision at Spring Lake on Tucannon Road; caller reported that another vehicle hit the side of the caller’s car and took off. Report of two juvenile females fighting at the city pool over one being hit with a ball; both banned from the pool unless they have adult supervision. Theft of cell phone from city pool reported. Complaint that a tan Ford Explorer ran the stop sign at S. 4th and Mustard streets.

June 17: Theft of 50 gallons of fuel siphoned from an RV on E. Richmond Avenue. Possible DUI eastbound on Highway 12 from Dayton; deputies were unable to locate so the call was transferred to Garfield County. Deputies assisted Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office with a disturbance at Whiskey Creek Bar and Grill in Waitsburg.

June 18: Deputies assisted Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office with a female causing a disturbance on Coppei in Waitsburg. Possible DUI reported crossing the Snake River bridge on Highway 261; deputy unable to locate. Loud guitar playing in area of S. 3rd Street going on for almost two hours; subject was advised of noise ordinance. Possible threats reported on S. 2nd Street. Deputies assisted the Department of Corrections in locating a subject on W. Main Street; subject not located. Possible threats on E. Jackson Street. Illegal burning reported on E. Commercial Street; resident was advised of city burn ban.

June 19: Harassment reported on S. 5th Street; neighbors disputing over the condition of a yard. Cell phone found near American West Bank.

June 20: Deputies requested to locate a juvenile who left a residence on S. 4th Street without permission; deputy located the juvenile and returned to home. Report of reckless red car speeding up and down N. 4th Street; deputies were unable to locate.
