Dayton

May 24

Caller on S. 4th Street reported hearing gunshots and observed a bullet had hit the residence; deputies located juveniles shooting on private property in the county. Caller was bitten by a dog while up Tucannon Road by the lakes; unknown dog owner.

May 25

Dayton man Charles Gilliland, 31, was arrested on W. Cameron Street on suspicion of fourth-degree assault – domestic violence. Deputies responded to a report of people yelling and screaming in the Ladybug Campground, on Tucannon Road; involved parties had defused the situation prior to deputy contact.

May 26

Vehicle prowl during the night on S. 4th Street; a handheld grinder and a child’s school backpack were taken. Gray mountain bike taken from a garage on E. Dayton Avenue.

May 27

Single-vehicle, non-injury collision on Highway 12 near milepost 361 reported after a driver fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle drifted off the roadway into a ditch; the driver was cited for negligent driving. Dayton female Christina Southwick, 48, was cited at Valley View Court for theft of services after repeatedly disposing of her trash in a neighbor’s garbage can without permission.

May 28

Deputies arrested Dayton man Charles Gilliland, 31, on suspicion of violating the conditions of his prior release from jail.

May 29

Caller reporting trespassers on private property on Whetstone Road; caller spoke with violators who then left the area. Deputies recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Umatilla County near Table Rock Lookout on Forest Road 64; vehicle was towed from the scene. Deputies assisted with an electrical fire at Little Goose Dam.

May 30

Camper on Tucannon Road reported a dispute with another camper during which he was allegedly threatened with a knife; suspect left the area before deputies arrived. Juvenile swimming in the Touchet River near the golf course reported other kids threatening to beat him up. Unwanted female reported at residence on W. Dayton Avenue; deputies responded and the female left willingly. Juvenile driving an ATV up and down city streets; deputies contacted the family and advised it is illegal for a juvenile to operate an ATV on city streets.
