Waitsburg

Mar. 17

Traffic stop on Harmon Street. Deputy stopped subject riding an ATV on the streets. Rider was issued a citation for driving while license suspended 3rd degree, an infraction for negligent driving, 2nd degree, and riding an ATV on the roadway. The ATV was towed and subject was released. The Sheriff’s Office had received complaints the day prior about this person riding the ATV in the area.

Mar. 18

Assault, 4th degree domestic violence warrant service. A female suspect on Willard Street was arrested for assaulting her adult son and on a felony warrant.

Prescott

Mar. 19

Malicious mischief on South “D” Street. Unknown person broke the sink in the public bathroom behind the library.

Mar. 20

Female contacted for violation of anti-harassment order on W. 1st St. Subject was told to stop violating order or she would be arrested. Report sent to Prosecuting Attorney’s office for charges.

Mar. 21

Violation of anti-harassment order on W. 1st St. Female arrested for continuing to violate order.

Dayton

Mar. 15

Radio reportedly stolen from the riding arena at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. Caller observed a suspicious male pull a gun from a red bag he was carrying while walking westbound on Highway 12 near milepost 363 about 25 minutes prior to calling the sheriff’s office; deputies searched the area but were unable to locate and so passed the information on to Washington State Patrol.

Mar. 16

Black bicycle with passport and tools in a bike bag taken from a garage on S. 3rd Street. Vehicle prowl on E. Commercial Street during the night; sunglasses and DVD player taken. A deputy assisted a citizen who came to the Sheriff’s Office upset about not getting a refund on prepaid cellphone minutes; customer service was contacted and the matter was resolved.

Mar. 17

Assault with no injuries reported on S. 3rd Street; one client allegedly hit another client in the arm with a doll on the previous day. Non-injury collision on E. Patit Avenue; caller reported backing into another vehicle with no damage sustained.

Mar. 18

Fraudulent phone call reported on S. 6th Street; someone called claiming to be the homeowner’s grandson in jail needing bail money. Caller on Harlem Road requesting contact to discuss increased traffic on the caller’s street and people trespassing on private property. Threats reported on W. Main Street. Suspicious person looking at houses on E. Dayton Avenue and writing on a pad of paper.

Mar. 19

Large electrical panel found in garage on S. Willow Street; doesn’t belong to homeowners and caller thought it might be stolen. Possible violation of no-contact order on S. 5th Street. Deputies assisted Fire District 3 on a medical call on E. Washington Avenue. Suspicious light on in residence that is supposed to be vacant on S. Willow Street; deputies checked the residence, which was secure.

Mar. 20

Starbuck resident Cole Mings, 45, was surrendered to the sheriff’s office by a bail agent on local warrants for failure to appear in court on original charges of criminal trespass, DUI, assault and violation of a no-contact order. Fraudulent phone call received on Fields Gulch Road; caller reported receiving an automated call telling the homeowner to turn himself or herself in to the nearest police department immediately. Caller reported finding a tent on private property on W. Commercial Street that someone appeared to be living in; deputies checked the tent, but nobody was home so they stated they would continue to try and make contact. John Stearns, a 58-year-old Dayton resident, was arrested on E. Richmond Avenue on suspicion of 4th degree assault, domestic violence. A 13-year-old son allegedly pulled a knife on the caller on Rose Gulch Road and was later arrested on suspicion of 2nd degree assault. Caller on S. 5th Street reporting harassing phone calls from his ex’s mother. Fraudulent call reported by citizen on E. Tremont Avenue; someone was claiming to be the citizen’s grandson who had gotten in a wreck in Georgia and needed bail money. Hit and run without damage reported on E. Main Street; a light brown Dodge 4x4 failed to yield at the stop light and then drove on after striking the caller’s vehicle. Theft of a backpack from the Dayton Elementary School lunchroom.

Mar. 21

Deputies assisted Fire District 3 on Rose Gulch Road with a possible structure fire. Assault reported on S. 3rd Street; report that one resident threw a TV remote at another resident. Theft of sunglasses reported on W. Main Street.

Mar. 22

Deputies arrested Patrick McManamon, a 35-year-old Dayton resident, on a Benton County warrant for failure to appear in court on an original charge of possession of stolen property.
