Bulldogs Split with GPTO

Dayton Pitcher Lowden Smith delivers from a windup during a game earlier this month.

DAYTON - Dayton Bulldogs pitcher Lowden Smith took it to Garfield- Palouse/Tekoa-Oaksdale combine team in the first game of their double header on May 6. Behind Smith's mound work and hitting, the 'Dogs pounded the Jaguars 11-1.

Smith had ten strikeouts in the complete game performance, and gave up only three hits. At the plate, Smith had four hits and six RBIs. The bulldogs added more power from the plate, as Guy Spallinger delivered three hits and Christian Warner two.

The Bulldogs held GPTO scoreless until the fifth and final inning, which was cut short by the mercy rule.

In game two, Christian Warner pitched a good game, giving up only seven hits. But the Jaguars scored three early runs on some costly Bulldog errors. Dayton was down by three going into the bottom of the seventh, before rallying for two, but it wasn't enough.

Spalinger and Cruz Ramirez each had two hits
