The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

DAYTON - Columbia Rural Electric Association has been working on the new Dayton Substation. For the final step in this project, they will need to switch power to the new substation. This will cause intermittent power outages for some REA customers.

Scheduled dates and times:

Tuesday July 9th, 2013 - 11:00 am and 4:00 pm

Thursday July 11th, 2013 Midnight - 5:00 am ( Wednesday night into Thursday morning)

Extended power outages are serious concerns for individuals with special needs or for those who rely on life support devices requiring electricity, such as respirators or ventilators.

People who rely on medical equipment need to be ex- tra prepared. Their emergen- cy preparedness kit should include a list of places to go if necessary until power is restored, additional oxygen tanks, and if possible, a back- up generator as an alternate power source.
