CLARKSTON - The WP boys' 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams took impressive victories last week at the District 9 2B track and field meet here last week. In the 4X1, the team of Al Sessay, Kevin Aquino, Travis Crocket and Kobie Brown beat a strong Pomeroy team by less than half a second. PRESCOTT - The WP Tigers softball team fell 10-1 and 10-2 in a home field double-header against the Asotin Panthers on Saturday. Both teams ended game one with zero errors but Asotin got 18 hits to WP's 10. WP's lone run was scored by a barely-safe slide into home by Caitlin Mohney. DAYTON - Dayton Bulldogs pitcher Lowden Smith took it to Garfield- Palouse/Tekoa-Oaksdale combine team in the first game of their double header on May 6. DAYTON - The track and field meet held here Wednesday, featured mostly athletes who did not qualify for Thursday's Meet of Champions in Lewiston. For WP, freshman Joe Leamy had a big day in Dayton, finishing 3rd in the 100 meter dash, 2nd in the 200 meters and 3rd in the high jump. All three were personal records. BURBANK - Kaitlyn Andrews continued her domination of the javelin events at local meets with a win at the Columbia- Burbank track and field meet last week here. Her throw of 109 feet was far off her best mark, but it was enough to win the event. RITZVILLE - Several members of the WP track team traveled to Ritzville for the Undeberg Invitational Meet Saturday, where more than 30 teams competed.
