WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg Cardinals volleyball team is gearing up for their annual Pink Night Breast Cancer Fundraiser match, Oct. 22. Funds from the event will be donated to a local mom, currently undergoing breast cancer treatment. The Pink Night Match, against the DeSales Irish, will take place in the Waitsburg gymnasium on Thurs., Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Both Waitsburg and DeSales volleyball team members are taking orders for T-shirts which cost $15, with $5 going toward the fundraiser. The Cardinals had a great race despite the heat at the Big Cross meet in Pasco on Wed., Sept. 23, said Coach Ann Adams. Landon Callas ran the hilly, sandy 5k course in 18:32, a PR for the course. PRESCOTT – The Tigers volleyball team took home their first win of the season in a home non-league match against the College Place Hawks on Tues., Sept. 22. The Dogs dropped the Irish in three sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-19) on Tues, Sept. 22, followed by a win over the Tigers (25-16, 25-8, 25-13) on Thurs., Sept. 24. DAYTON – Dayton’s third quarterback of the year, Kobie Sunderlin-Herrin, continued to improve on Friday as he rushed for 91 yards including a touchdown and a two-point conversion, in a 68-28 loss to Liberty Christian. Sunderlin-Herrin was also four-for-nine passing, for 49 yards, including a TD and two-point conversion reception. COLTON – The Dayton Bulldogs football team gave up 40 points to Colton in the first quarter Friday on their way to a 60-16 loss. The Loss added to Dayton’s woes, after the team lost its first and second-string quarterbacks to injury.
