It could, it was, and it still con- tinues to be a vital part of our community, serving Waits- burg and surrounding areas. We are very proud of the Waitsburg Ambulance Ser- vice and the volunteers that keep it going." Those words are taken from a president's letter written by Waitsburg Ambulance Service (WAS) Board...

And while Hometown Christmas always maintains the familiar comfort of a well-loved tradition,...

    Dena Wood, The Times|Nov 28, 2013

WAITSBURG - Last week's public information meeting regarding a pro- posed water rate increase was pushed back a month, but the City doesn't have the luxury of waiting to address current water system needs. Letters inviting the com- munity to attend the Novem- ber City Council meeting and offer input or ask ques- tions regarding a potential water bill increase were included with Waitsburg residents' most recent utility statements. While a handful of individuals did show up to that meeting, the...

WAITSBURG - "That's not for you, honey, that's for us to give to other kids." Twenty families - a total of 89 people - were blessed by efforts of their own community through The Kids' Big Give. And those were the recipients. The gi...

  • ‘Tis the Season (Almost)

    Dena Wood, The Times|Nov 14, 2013

I t seems to me that small towns often have a tradition of grabbing hold of a specific holiday and hugging tightly to squeeze all they can from it. I grew up in Condon, Ore. where the 4th of July was the holiday of choice. The Fourth was spent watching the town parade, playing games in the park, attending the rodeo and then dancing the night away at the fairgrounds. It was, as they say, "a big deal". Those familiar with Touchet's traditions are aware that May Day is their "big deal," complete...

    Dena Wood, The Times|Nov 14, 2013

WAITSBURG - "If Rov- er is 10 years older than Spot, and next year Rover will be twice as old as Spot, how old are they now?" "In what structure of the body would an arthrotomy be performed?" Questions like these formed the basis of the Knowledge Bowl tourna- ment hosted by Waitsburg and held at the First Christian Church (and surrounding buildings) on Tuesday afternoon. Teams from six schools - Waitsburg, Dayton, Prescott, Pomeroy, Clarkston and DeSales - attended Tues- day's meet. While all th...

The 2014 levy is for $110,000, approximately 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. Due to a rise in assessed property values, the levy rate is down slightly from the 2013 rate of 45 cents per $1,000. Unlike the neighboring cities of Waitsburg, Day- ton and previously Walla Walla, the City of Prescott has...

  • Boomerang for Gmail

    Dena Wood, The Times|Nov 7, 2013

Boomerang is a neat little plugin that can come in very handy for Gmail users. Frankly, I don't know exactly what a "plugin" is, even though I use several of them. As best I can tell, they add a specific feature to software or a pro- gram you are already using. But don't worry. You don't need to understand it to en- joy the benefits. You do, however, need to use Gmail as your email client. If you don't already, you might consider it. I use Gmail and have my busi- ness and personal Charter.net...
