Support for Walla Walla Sheriff candidate Schram

To the editor,

Walla Walla County has been my home for my whole life except for the 6 years I spent in the US Navy. I love this place & the people who live here. I care what happens to them. For that reason I wholeheartedly support Richard Schram for Sheriff. He is the much superior candidate by education, experience, & temperament. I retired from the Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office after 37 years of service. I was the first K-9 handler for the WWSO, working dogs for 15 years. I was jail commander for 12 years & did thousands of hours of patrol. While I was jail commander 23 years ago I hired a young man named Richard Schram to work the jail. We immediately realized he was smart, capable, & had a bright future. Soon he was promoted to patrol & has never stopped learning & serving. Richard has worked for three very different sheriffs (Mike Humphreys, John Turner, & Mark Crider) & been promoted & honored by each of them. Whether patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, field training officer, SWAT team member & then commander, or chief criminal deputy, he gives his all to the job. Richard is thoughtful, intelligent, educated, calm, honorable, & completely fair. His degree in criminal justice & his graduation from the FBI National Academy give him the background to always be looking ahead. He never accepts the status quo & is prepared to lead us into the better policing culture of the future. Richard has the endorsements of the WW Commissioned Deputies Association, the WW Professional Firefighters, La Voz Hispanic Newspapers, & many current & former law enforcement officers, as well as local citizens. They endorse him because he’s real & honest. He doesn’t whine or sling mud. Richard listens & cares. In my humble opinion Richard Schram may well prove to be the best sheriff this county has ever had! He is the one to lead the WWSO officers into the future. Please join me in electing this outstanding law enforcement officer. Anyone who wishes any more information from me is always welcome to contact me.
