Cardinal 8th graders play their last middle school softball game 

Six Waitsburg eighth graders played their last school softball game for the middle school team on Monday, June 1, against Desales in Waitsburg.

Kenney Medals Twice at State

Waitsburg senior Teegan Kenney finished his high school track career medaling in two events at the WIAA 1B/2B/1A State Championships at Eisenhower High School in Yakima May 28-30. On Friday, May 29, coach Dan Nechodom said that Kenney "jumped well this morning".  "His first three attempts were a little flat, but enough to get him into the finals".

 In Kenney's first jump in the triple jump finals, he jumped 40'8", which earned him a 4th-place medal.

Kenney did not make the finals in the 300-meter hurdles (he placed 10th) or the 100-meter dash (he placed 12th), but on Saturday, he made the finals in the long jump.  His jump of 19' 3 ¾" was good for 7th place.

 "We are proud of him making it to State in four events," said Nechodom.  "His personal record in the triple jump was a pleasant way to finish out that event, and he has performed better than his seeding place in the long jump," Nechodom finished.
