Winston Coleman of Waitsburg was presented with his 50-Year Pin for membership in the Masonic Lodge. Presenting the pin at the Coleman home was Tommie Tindell, secretary of Paul Revere Lodge No. 205 in Othello, where Coleman and his son, Roger, are members.

Bobber and Robinson lead Cards headed to state track meet. Jeremy Bobber is making his second consecutive appearance, running the 1,600. Speedy Holly Robinson qualified in the 400 m., 800 m., and 4x200 Relay.

Fun Run winners were: Female 5K, 1st-Lauren Smith, 2nd-Dinah Lindsey, 3rd-Becki Maki. Male 5K, 1st-Dale Fuller, 2nd-Bill Leahy, 3rd-Joe Nelson. Female 10K, 1st-Jill Bannister, 2nd-Caitlin Collins. Male 10K, 1st-Cliff Bannister, 2nd-Jimmy Crawford, 3rd-Andy Schaal.

Wayne Henderson, who will leave the Waitsburg Schools after this term, is directing the play "The Mouse that Roared" which will be presented on May 27 at the High School Auditorium. The public is invited.

Laurie McCaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack McCaw, was installed as worthy advisor of Waitsburg Assembly No. 68, Order of Rainbow for Girls, Sunday afternoon, May 16.

Enjoying a fishing trip at Camp Wooten on the Tucannon Saturday night and Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Reed and family, the Bob Butler family, the Howard Davis family, Maurice Witt and family, Lee Mantz Jr. and family, and Albert Land and daughter Deana.

Craig Tull formerly of Prescott, has been named parade Marshall for the Saturday event.

One-Hundred Years Ago

May 28, 1926

Joe Wise, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Manton Wise, Tuesday was puled from a horse, dragged by a stirrup and severely cut and bruised about the body, besides fracturing two ribs.

Loris Cox and Joe Mitchell entertained the Waitsburg High School graduating class at the Evergreen Confectionery Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Barnes and family drove to St. John, Wash. the latter part of the week and spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Diehl who are farming in that locality.

One Hundred Twenty-Five Years Ago

May 31, 1901

Mr. W. H. Ham and Miss Maud E. Freeburn both of Prescott, Wash. were married in this city Sunday afternoon, May 26, 1901, at 4 o'clock at the residence of Rev. S. A. George, Rev. George officiating.

N. B. Atkinson this week brought us in an average sample bunch of blue stem wheat from his field on the hill just north of town- the reservoir hill. The wheat is in full bloom and measures 5 feet 2 inches in height.

Lt. J. B. Caldwell brought home a number of delicious crabs from the Sound last week. Fresh crabs are a delicacy in this section of the state and the friends to whom he gave them appreciated the gift very much.
