Both the girls and boys Cardinals basketball teams celebrated district tournament victories at Whitman College in Walla Walla this past Friday. They made history by becoming the first teams to win the title at the same time.

Cole and Brittany Lindsey, married just last year in Puerto Rico, left for a missionary adventure to Kenya last week.

Young wrestlers and their support staff roll up the mats that are too old and worn out for the growing wrestling program. Co-founders Kari and Travis Newman are raising funds for new ones.

Fifty Years Ago

February 26, 1976

The Wait-Hi Student Body Officers made a visit to Olympia recently and had their picture taken with two area legislators. Senator Dan Jolly, Loyal Baker, Walt Warehime, David Smith, Rod Estes, Representative Jeannette Hayner and Rob McKinney. The student body officers make the trip during each legislative session to gain a better understanding of how State government works.

Cub Scout, Forrest Jonson, won the ribbon at the Blue and Gold banquet for the Most Unique cake. Dean Perry won the prize for the Funniest Cub Scout cake. Todd Wood got first prize for the Prettiest Cub cake.

March 2, 1951

Janet Collins spent last weekend in Sunnyside with her sister, Roselle Collins who is doing her practice teaching there.

Lynn Pearson of Waitsburg is one of 55 junior and senior pharmacy students from W.S.C. to leave Feb. 23 for an 11-day educational trip to the mid-west.

Myron Colburn, superintendent of schools at Colville and formerly principal here, was in Waitsburg Wednesday with two school directors to inspect the new grade school here.

March 5, 1926

Groom Bickelhaupt is seeding about 40 acres to sweet clover this Spring.

Chas. Sharp and James O'Neil, editor of the Spectator, were in the city Friday from Prescott for a few hours.

Frank Callahan, Orville Fullerton and John White are in Spokane this week attending the M.E. Sunday school convention which covers this district.

One Hundred Twenty-Five Years Ago

March 8, 1901

Mrs. J. W. Morgan and Mrs. J. E. Houtchens gave an afternoon coffee on Friday. The following were the invited guests: Mesdames Davies, Powell, Abbey, Bruce, Fletcher, Morrow, Vincent, Maxwell, S.W. Smith, Ormsbee, Caldwell, Butler, Chas Taylor, Fred Cox and Lynch.

Robert Loundagin was married on Feb. 27, 1901, to Miss Albertena Smith. The wedding took place at the home of the bride in Lindsay, California.

Home seekers are arriving in this city nearly every day from different eastern points. Thirty or forty persons have arrived during the past week and are looking at the surrounding country with a view to locating.
