Waitsburg Elementary students participated in the annual Kids Heart Challenge on Friday, February 13, in the high school gym. The students rotated through stations, participating in activities such as jumping rope, hula-hooping, bowling, and basketball. A heart-healthy snack was served at one station.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade received donations from family and friends and raised over $ 3,000 for the American Heart Association.
Kennedy Henze was the top money raiser, collecting $633.83. With that honor, she will get to be "PE teacher" for a day. The second-grade class won an ice cream Sunday party after raising $1,103.70.
Fourteen students raised over $100 each and earned the right to participate in a silly string war with Paraeducator John Langford and P.E. Teacher Kim McNarland.
