DAYTON — “Nuremberg” chronicles the true story of the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film centers on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek), who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes. He finds himself in a complex battle of wits with Hermann Goring (Russell Crowe), Hitler’s right-hand man. Rated PG-13 for violent content involving the Holocaust, strong disturbing images, suicide, some language, smoking, and brief drug content. Runtime is 148 minutes.
The audience comments on Rotten Tomatoes included, “Russell Crowe and Rami Malek deliver a thought-provoking psychological duel in ‘Nuremberg,’ a film that offers both dramatic weight and historical depth,” giving the movie a 95% rating. In contrast, the RT critics’ consensus was slightly more reserved, at 72%.
Critics’ comments included, “Driven by a commanding performance from Russell Crowe, ‘Nuremberg’ is a handsomely crafted historical drama, but its measured pacing and emotional restraint keep it from fully realizing the complexity of its subject.”
